WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Adoption is needed for thousands of African orphan children but if you want to help and cannot adopt please consider a monthly or school sponsorship for a child, or enlist the aid of your business, church, women's, scout, youth group, etc., to help an "African Angel".

MONTHLY SPONSORSHIP
$35.00 a month will provide basic support for a child. Sponsorship goes to an African representative we trust - they purchase food and/or clothing for the child, they pay for the child's education and we take nothing - 100% goes to help the child. Sponsorship is needed for Ethiopia, Uganda, Liberia, Mali and Nigeria. Click here for more information about our sponsorship program.
We accept online sponsorship and donation payments through PayPal. You choose your method of payment. Each month, $35 will be charged to your credit card or directly from your bank account. It's fast, free and secure.

DONATIONS
The AFAA phone bill averages $2,000 a month, copy costs average $400-500 a month and postage averages $500 a month. We now accept donations online through PayPal. It's fast, free and secure.

CLOTH DIAPERS
Cloth diapers, not disposable are needed. New or used, in good condition - pre-fold is best.

PLASTIC PANTS
Plastic pants are always needed to go over cloth diapers, small to large sizes.

BABY FORMULA
Powdered formula is always needed. Regular and soy based formula with little or no iron.

VITAMINS
We NEED liquid vitamins for babies, chewable vitamins for older children and adult vitamins for our staff. Please do not send the cute, animal shaped ones - the children think they're candy. Caring for many babies, toddlers and elementary age children means we use lots of vitamins.

CHILDREN'S PAJAMAS
Various sizes including sleepers with feet - large sizes are needed. Nights can be cold in Ethiopia.

MISCELLANEOUS
Lice shampoo, Nizoral shampoo, first aid creams and teething solutions.

UGANDAN SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP
An annual donation of $100 will cover school fees for one child to attend a Ugandan elementary school for one year, purchase their books, notepads and pencils for a year and buys the student one new school uniform and two pair of shoes. Education is everything to an African child. Again, 100% of your donation goes to the school-sponsored child.

We accept online all school and orphanage sponsorship payments through PayPal. You choose your method of payment. Each year, $100 will be charged to your credit card or directly from your bank account. It's fast, free and secure.

COLORING BOOKS, CRAYONS & PUZZLES
Always needed. Puzzles with large pieces only for young children.

BATTERIES
AA batteries for tap lights and tape recorders and D batteries for flashlights to reduce the use of candles in an AFAA House when electricity is not available.

PRINTING SERVICES or an ADVERTISER
A printer and/or advertiser is needed to help with printing services - AFAA NEEDS a substantial discount for printing our occasional newsletter, or an advertiser to help defray expenses for our "African Connection". The printer can be anywhere in the US. We struggle to get the newsletter out because of the printing and postage expense. Our current mailing list is 12,000 individuals who are interested in children and adoption issues.

SHEETS & PILLOW CASES
Crib sheets for our baby/toddler beds, single sheets for our childrens bunk beds.

PLASTIC MATTRESS COVERS
Crib size and single bed size, plastic mattress covers are very needed - usually available at Target, K-Mart, etc.

NO USED CLOTHING, NO STUFFED ANIMALS - PLEASE !
We have lots of used clothing and we do not allow stuffed animals in our foster homes as they are difficult to keep clean and can carry scabies and lice. Thank you for understanding.

Each trip to Africa means one or more AFAA escorts hand carries in large trunks of your donated items - 140 pounds of supplies, per escort, per trip. We know exactly where and how items are distributed.
